Hi, I am Nicholas Sloan, and I am a web developer currently living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
I like to write software, particularly software that interacts with users through a web browser. I have spent most of my career writing software in PHP. I've recently begun sampling other programming languages, from Perl to Objective C to Java to C++; however, the language that truly seems to suit me is Python.
I've been fortunate to work for a lot of really cool companies in my career, and I standby my claim that I have worked for some of the best bosses around. My previous employers include OmniTI Computer Consulting and Echolibre. Currently I work for PNC Bank, where I bend HTML, CSS and Javascript to my will.
I hold a Bachelors of Business Administration in Electronic Business Design from Western Michigan University, and I may or may not be pursuing a masters degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Open source software holds a special place in my heart, though despite best intentions, I haven't made any major contributions to anything just yet. I spend my free time watching television shows that were canceled too soon on DVD, trying to meet the right woman in Pittsburgh, taking long walks through Schenley Park, and losing myself in good books. I would also like to continue learning to play guitar, but we'll see how that goes.
If you want to get in touch with me a good place to look is http://twitter.com/slango, or on the Freenode IRC Network where my handle is also slango. Slango is pronounced like "bongo", not like "tango". If that bothers you, then you can call me Nick in person.
